The Video Game Paintball xField soon on PC and console

Pioneer mobile paintball video game company xField Paintball Toulouse, founded in 2012 and hosted the IOT Valley, is working on a new version of its eponymous video game that could come out on PC and console, by the end of the year. An evolution made possible by lifting 940 000 achieved in 2015. This represents a new step for the startup founded by Fabrice Tron and Sebastien Munier, who introduced xField Paintball on the market.

This 3D game of paintball and airsoft can play on a computer reproduction of official courses, with a team of 10 players in real time. The first version, created in 2012 in partnership with the Toulouse Companies AudioGaming Paintball and Designer, was cushioned in 8 months with a premium formula (complete contents fee). After a fundraiser from 220 000 in 2013, the startup has developed a second version of the game downloaded over 7 million times in a formula free to play (free download, pay additional content, Ed).

With this development on PC and console, the young company specializing in video games FPS (First-person shooter or shooter for subjective, Ed) paintball medium term hopes to “make a million downloads in premium mode.” History further retain a significant gaming community.

A video game to monetize a community
Thus, Fabrice Tron and Sebastien Munier were the first to create a 3D multiplayer game of paintball in real time on mobile, while their competitors were present on console. The young company wanted to develop a community game which drew the real world and the digital.


Fabrice Tron explains that the first will of the startup was to create “a game that easily would capture a large community in the world: paintball alone represents more than 20 million people and is the third sport in the United States, after BMX and snowboarding. ” This community, composed mostly of athletes, equipment and playgrounds operators, was to be picked up by an effective and quick way: “Mobile is the most viral means to challenge them.”

Final goal: the monetization of the community. The advantage is that large sector brands associate with xField Paintball to be in contact with the fans of this sport, all federated within the same database. Thus, brands such as GI Sports, Dye and Valken, may make themselves known or enhance their visibility and promote their offerings.
